Experience the Swiss Gastronomy Museum Thun
Harry Schraemli cabinet, library, menu card selection, archive
Learn more about the cultural history of gastronomy, the hotel industry, and dining and drinking traditions. The museum can be reached by a charming spiral staircase located outside the Castle (look for the Gastronomy Museum sign). This was once the servants' entrance to the first floor. The Swiss Gastronomy Museum has been housed in the castle since 1988 and celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2008. It contains gastronomic literature, documents and equipment, which have been preserved and made accessible to the public.
The museum has something to offer both young and old alike. It features the smallest recipe book in the world, a variety of interesting menu cards, and fascinating pieces of historical equipment, many of which are now making a comeback in the modern gourmet kitchen. It is a trove of cultural relics, interesting devices and unusual recipes.
